About

Academic and Researcher based in Canada

I’m currently a PhD Candidate in Cinema and Media Arts at York University! I hold a MA in Communications and Media Studies and a BA(Hons) in Film Studies from the University of Calgary.

My current SSHRC-funded PhD research centres women in horror and exploitation film production, specifically producers. I’m also interested in women’s film history, production studies, media industry studies, audience/reception, cult and horror cinema.

Previous research includes my SSHRC-funded MA thesis “We must be burning film like mad”: Exploring Canadian production cultures at Cinepix, 1976-1986, my BA thesis “Room on the Rad Team”: Exploring the Albertan Reception of Rad through the lens of the ‘Local Film.’

My current research is funded through SSHRC, and I 2021-2024 holder of the Graduate Fellowship for Academic Distinction from York University. I previously received the 2018 Gerald Pratley Award from the Film Studies Association of Canada and the 2017 Jeffrey and Sandra Lyons Canadian Film Scholarship from TIFF.

After getting my start working at a video store at 15, I’ve worked with orgs including the Calgary Cinematheque, LUMA Quarterly, Canada Learning Code, Movies that Matter (now Cinema Politica), and have moderated panels at the Calgary Horror Convention.

When not working, I can be found watching an excessive amount of Professional Wrestling, working behind-the-counter at a romance book store, playing video games, enjoying some vegan food, or at the gym in the never ending quest to emulate Rhea Ripley.

Please feel free to shoot me a message, I would love to hear from you!
